Cleaning Adventures for Little Helpers at Home

Keeping a tidy and organized house can be quite challenging, especially when you have kids running around all day. But fear not! By involving your little ones in some child-friendly cleaning tasks, you can make them feel like they’re part of the team while also keeping your home clean and clutter-free.
In this blog post, we’ll explore some easy and fun cleaning activities that will keep both you and your children happy! So let’s get started!
Toys
Assuming you would like a list of child-friendly cleaning tasks:
1. Wipe down surfaces with a wet cloth – this includes tables, chairs, benches, shelves, etc.
2. Vacuum floors – move furniture as needed to get every nook and cranny
3. Dust surfaces – again, move furniture as necessary
4. Wash windows and mirrors – use a squeegee for an extra streak-free clean
5. Empty waste bins – be sure to wash them out before putting fresh garbage in
6. Tidy up toys and books – put away anything that doesn’t belong in the room
7. Make the bed – this one’s self explanatory!
These are just a few ideas to get you started; any other cleaning tasks for kids can easily be modified to be child-friendly as well. For example, instead of using harsh chemicals to clean the bathroom, opt for baking soda and vinegar; not only is this combination effective, but it’s also safe for kids (and pets) to be around.
Bedrooms
Assuming you have kids under the age of 10, here are some cleaning tasks for kids that are perfect for them to help with:
1. Making the bed – this is a great way to teach them about tidy bedrooms and how to make a bed properly.
2. Dusting – using a soft cloth, kids can help dust surfaces around the house.
3. Vacuuming – let them help with the vacuum cleaner, moving it backwards and forwards across the floor. They’ll love seeing all the dirt and dust being sucked up!
4. Polishing furniture – using a soft cloth, teach them how to polish wood surfaces like tables and chairs.
5. Washing windows – using a sponge or cloth, kids can help clean windows both inside and outside the house. Just be sure to supervise them closely if they’re cleaning windows near ledges or stairs.
Living room
Assuming you have a living room that needs cleaning, here are some child-friendly tasks to get it done:
1. Dust all surfaces using a damp cloth or microfiber cloth. Be sure to get into all the nooks and crannies!
2. Vacuum the floor, being sure to move furniture out of the way so you can reach all areas.
3. Wipe down any glass surfaces, such as windows or mirrors.
4. Straighten up any toys or books that may be lying around.
5. Finally, give the room a once-over to make sure everything looks clean and in its place!

Kitchen
As the heart of the home, the kitchen is where we spend a lot of our time cooking, eating and socialising. It’s also a place where mess can easily build up – from crumbs on the worktop to spills on the floor. To help keep your kitchen clean and tidy, here are some child-friendly cleaning tasks for kids can help with:
• Wiping down surfaces – including the worktop, table, chairs and cupboards. Use a damp cloth or sponge and some gentle cleaning spray.
• Sweeping up – this is a great job for little ones as they can use their hands or dustpan and brush. Just make sure they don’t sweep any dirt under the rug!
• Mopping up spills – as soon as someone spills something on the floor, get them to help mop it up. This will stop it from spreading and making more of a mess.
• Loading/unloading the dishwasher – if you have a dishwasher, let your child help load (and unload) it. They can put away all of the clean plates, cups and cutlery too.
Remember to praise your child for their efforts and have patience when teaching them how to do these tasks properly. With a bit of practice, they’ll be cleaning up like pros in no time!
Bathroom
Bathrooms are one of the places in the house that can get pretty messy, pretty quickly. But, teaching your kids to help clean up the bathroom is a great way to instill some good habits and get them involved in helping around the house. Here are some child friendly cleaning tasks for the bathroom:
-Wipe down the sink and countertops. Give your child a damp rag and show them how to wipe down all of the surfaces in the bathroom.
-Clean the toilet. This is probably one task that most kids don’t want to do, but it’s important nonetheless. Show them how to use a toilet brush properly and make sure they understand the importance of using gloves when cleaning this area.
-Sweep and mop the floor. This is another task where gloves are a must. Show your child how to sweep up any dirt or debris from the floor and then how to mop it clean.
