KITCHEN RENOVATION

RENOVATION OF THE BATHROOM
The bathroom vanity included a separate toilet, a bath and shower in an adjoining chamber, and the basins outdoors. Nonetheless, I was able to create a contemporary, beautiful appearance.
MODERNIZE IT
Getting away from the peeling yellow patterned wallpaper and painting the entire basin area in a light, cheerful colour scheme along with some silver spray for the brassy mirror frame was an equally significant makeover. In no time, it changed from drab and antiquated to absolutely modern with tile backsplash, floor tiles, and wall tiles.
EXTREME SAVINGS
Instead of spending about $1500 on a new “his and hers” custom-made wall-hung vanity, I followed the same path as the kitchen renovation. I made a new top for the old vanity out of the same laminate tabletop that I used in the kitchen, bought two basins for $140 each, and upgraded the doors, knobs, and tapware.
Lighting that is pleasing to the eye takes forethought
Don’t believe that installing a few lights would suffice: because bathrooms are often tiny, gloomy, and packed with mirrors (complicating how light bounces around), lighting takes careful consideration and placement. A single diffuse light in the centre of the ceiling is the easiest method to illuminate a bath.

Do you have a bathroom that is already light and airy? A set of two wall sconces should suffice. Are you considering ceiling-mounted downlights? Avoid putting near the wall above a vanity to maximize light while staring in the mirror, and avoid installing directly over light-coloured worktops (because those will reflect the lights).
Consider vertical fluorescent light bulbs on either side of the mirror if you spend a lot of time doing cosmetics.
