How to makeover my bathroom and kitchen?

cleaning

When it comes to renovating their kitchen and master bathroom usually the most labour-intensive and expensive rooms to restore few individuals have the luxury of a limitless budget.

Once you’ve hired a plumber, sparkie, carpenter, tiler, labourer, and potentially a builder for a whole strip-out and fit-out, labour expenses may quickly spiral out of hand. Not to mention the stress of having a kitchen or bathroom out of commission for weeks, especially if the project includes removing walls, installing new flooring, and making any external alterations such as windows or doors.

In terms of suffering, missed deadlines, and exorbitant expenditures, bathroom renovation, like kitchen remodelling, takes a toll on homeowners. Given the exorbitant expense of bathroom remodelling, it pays to think outside the box and look for more cost-effective solutions.

Not only will you have a clean, bright, and functional bathroom after a low-cost and lean bathroom makeover, but you will also have significantly more money in your bank account than those who chose the more expensive, wasteful path.

KITCHEN RENOVATION

“Given the size of the room, a brand-new kitchen would have cost at least $15,000.Knowing that the buyer would be looking at the home’s engine room.

To keep the kitchen’s carcass while replacing the cupboard and drawer fronts with a stunning charcoal grey laminate and upgrading parts of the internals with tedious carpentry for less than $10,000. I saved money on demolition and skip fees, as well as the cost of purchasing and installing a whole new kitchen.

RENOVATION OF THE BATHROOM

The bathroom vanity included a separate toilet, a bath and shower in an adjoining chamber, and the basins outdoors. In an ideal world, with more money and time, you would have knocked down the partitions to create one large bathroom with a separate toilet. Nonetheless, I was able to create a contemporary, beautiful appearance.

MODERNIZE IT

Getting away from the peeling yellow patterned wallpaper and painting the entire basin area in a light, cheerful colour scheme along with some silver spray for the brassy mirror frame was an equally significant makeover. In no time, it changed from drab and antiquated to absolutely modern with tile backsplash, floor tiles, and wall tiles.

Instead of spending about $1500 on a new “his and hers” custom-made wall-hung vanity, I followed the same path as the kitchen renovation. I made a new top for the old vanity out of the same laminate tabletop that I used in the kitchen, bought two basins for $140 each, and upgraded the doors, knobs, and tapware.

Lighting that is pleasing to the eye takes forethought

Don’t believe that installing a few lights would suffice: because bathrooms are often tiny, gloomy, and packed with mirrors (complicating how light bounces around), lighting takes careful consideration and placement. A single diffuse light in the centre of the ceiling is the easiest method to illuminate a bath.

Do you have a bathroom that is already light and airy? A set of two wall sconces should suffice. Are you considering ceiling-mounted downlights? Avoid putting near the wall above a vanity to maximize light while staring in the mirror, and avoid installing directly over light-coloured worktops (because those will reflect the lights).

Consider vertical fluorescent light bulbs on either side of the mirror if you spend a lot of time doing cosmetics.

When it comes to tiling, there are just a few varieties to remember

Forget about the numerous stacks of tile samples your contractor will show you; all you need to know are a few basic types.

Porcelain, glass, natural stone, cement, and, of course, subway tile (a form of ceramic tile so ubiquitous that it has its own category) are the sorts of tile that are especially durable, long-wearing, and ageless in the bath in shower stalls, on floors, and on walls.

How do you pick the best grout for your bathroom?

Your bathroom’s grout may make or break it. Grouting could be an afterthought in the grand scheme of things:

Do you want the grout to contrast with the tile or blend in with it? Is the grout in a high-splash zone or somewhere relatively dry? If it’ll be wet a lot, such as in a shower cubicle, use synthetic grout; otherwise, use cementitious grout.

You may create your own bathroom design

Bathroom designers are wonderful, but they may also blow your bathroom makeover budget. Consider creating your own bathroom design. A competent designer can help you with whole-house remodels, expansions, and huge kitchens.

Bathrooms in most homes, on the other hand, aren’t quite as intricate. Studying bathroom layouts and knowing fundamental bathroom design principles (such as the National Kitchen and Bath Association’s suggestions) may provide you with lots of inspiration to get started.
