Check the model before starting
Identify whether the appliance has a self-cleaning or steam-clean function and follow the manufacturer's instructions. Remove racks only if the manual allows it. Do not assume that a chemical product, abrasive pad or home mixture is suitable for every oven.
Prepare the oven and room
Switch off and let the appliance cool fully. Remove loose food and ventilate the area as product directions require. Keep children and pets away, wear protective equipment specified by the label and never mix oven cleaner with another chemical.
Apply products only as directed
Keep cleaner away from controls, heating elements, gas components, seals and surfaces excluded by the label. Follow application, dwell, wipe/rinse and drying instructions. Do not heat the oven to burn off residue unless the appliance manual specifically directs a self-cleaning cycle.
Know when to stop
Do not clean a damaged, unsafe or faulty appliance as a substitute for repair. Persistent residue, non-standard coatings and between-pane glass may need manufacturer advice or a technician. Professional oven cleaning should also define included components and limitations.
