When a Blocked Drain Needs a Licensed Plumber

A blocked drain sometimes needs more than visible surface cleaning. Returning problems, leaks and backups should be assessed by a licensed plumber rather than passed to a general cleaning team.

Recognise signs that need plumbing assessment

Contact the property manager or a licensed plumber when a blockage returns, several fixtures drain slowly, water backs up elsewhere or a leak appears. Sewage backup and unknown contamination need appropriate specialist advice. Do not continue using a fixture if it may overflow or create further damage.

Provide a useful problem history

Explain which fixtures are affected, when the issue began and whether it follows particular use. Provide photographs only where safe, describe visible leaks or odours and list products already poured into the drain. Mention rental or shared-building responsibilities and any access instructions before the visit.

Keep the area safe while waiting

Keep people and pets away from backed-up water, unknown chemicals and affected electrical fittings. Do not dismantle pipework or use improvised tools. If there are strong fumes or an active chemical reaction, leave the area and obtain appropriate emergency or poison-information advice rather than adding another substance.

Agree a separate cleaning scope afterwards

Once the provider confirms that the fault is controlled and the area is safe, identify suitable surfaces that still need cleaning. A domestic visit may address ordinary sink, bench or bathroom residue. Dirt2Tidy does not replace a plumbing repair or drain-unblocking service, and sewage or hazardous contamination is outside ordinary cleaning.
