Check the coating and care instructions
If available, identify the floor coating and check the installer or product maker's care directions. Test any permitted cleaner in a discreet area and stop if colour, gloss or coating changes.
Remove grit before mopping
Sweep or vacuum with a hard-floor setting to lift loose grit. Use a soft tool to reduce the chance of scratching the coating.
Use minimal compatible moisture
If the maker permits damp mopping, use a well-wrung mop and compatible mild cleaner as directed. Avoid leaving puddles or using abrasive pads, solvents, acids or strong alkaline cleaners without explicit product approval.
Address wear or peeling separately
Cleaning cannot repair peeling paint, failing sealer, cracks or moisture problems. Ask the coating installer or a suitable flooring professional to assess the cause before applying products or recoating.
