Define the cleaning phase
A project may need an agreed tidy during works, a detailed clean after trades finish or a final clean before presentation. These terms vary between projects. Confirm timing, scope and responsibility in the project arrangements rather than assuming one standard package.
Prepare the area for access
The builder or site contact should confirm work is complete in the area, access is authorised and safe, and utilities are available if required. Remove tools, offcuts and construction waste through the responsible project team before booking routine cleaning.
Specify suitable cleaning tasks
List accessible rooms, surfaces, floors, fixtures and glazing. Methods depend on materials, finish, residue and manufacturer guidance. Cured paint, grout, adhesive, cement or fine dust can damage surfaces if treated incorrectly; request assessment before attempting removal.
Refer hazards and trade work
Cleaning is not demolition, building repair, plumbing, electrical work, waste transport or hazardous-material remediation. Do not disturb suspected asbestos, silica-containing dust, chemical spills, unstable structures or exposed services. Stop and notify the site manager or an appropriately qualified specialist.
