Cleaning stages depend on the project
Some projects arrange a tidy during works, a detailed clean after trades finish or a final presentation clean before handover. These labels are not standardised. Check the building contract and agree with the responsible project contact who arranges each stage.
Confirm readiness before cleaners attend
Ask the builder or site manager to confirm that work in the area is finished, access is safe and utilities are available where needed. Clarify who removes construction waste, offcuts, tools and sharp debris; routine cleaners should not be assumed to manage building-site waste.
Agree on tasks and surface limits
List rooms, accessible surfaces, floors, fixtures and reachable glazing. Paint, grout, adhesive or cement residue may require surface-specific assessment and may not be safely removable. Allow products and finishes to cure according to manufacturer instructions.
Keep hazards and trades separate
Do not disturb suspected asbestos, silica dust, chemical spills, unstable structures, exposed wiring or other hazards. Refer concerns to the builder or an appropriately qualified specialist. Coordinate cleaning after dusty work and before furnishings arrive where practical.
