Ask a qualified pest provider to assess the signs
Describe the room, item, observations, property type and any previous product or equipment use. Ask who will inspect, what evidence supports an identification, what areas and treatment are proposed, which qualifications apply, and what occupant and pet instructions will be provided. If you rent, notify the property manager and keep written records.
Do not improvise heat or pesticide treatment
A carpet-cleaning machine manual is not a bed-bug protocol. Do not apply steam, heat, pesticide, disinfectant or a household mixture to bedding, furniture or a rental machine unless the qualified pest provider and exact product/equipment instructions support that use.
Follow treatment records and exact re-entry directions
If treatment is arranged, retain the product label and written preparation, re-entry, cleaning and follow-up directions. There is no universal return-to-room period.
