Plan Post-Construction Cleaning for a Perth Project

Post-construction cleaning can prepare surfaces for handover, but it does not certify a property as safe, compliant or ready for occupancy. In Perth, as elsewhere, the builder or principal contractor should confirm the worksite is ready before cleaners enter.

Confirm worksite readiness

Coordinate with the builder on completed dusty work, remaining trades, access, utilities and surface cure times. Keep cleaners out of restricted zones. Suspected asbestos, silica dust, chemical residue or other hazardous materials require qualified assessment and handling.

Agree the cleaning checklist

List rooms, floors, glass, frames, cabinets, bathrooms, kitchens and the level of dust or residue. Clarify whether the service is rough, final or presentation cleaning. Paint, grout, adhesive removal, repairs and construction waste may need separate scope.

Protect new surfaces and systems

Check care directions for new coatings, timber, stone, glass, appliances and ventilation equipment. Ask what dust-control equipment and products will be used. Do not assume steam, pressure washing or wet cleaning is safe for a newly finished surface.

Separate cleaning from inspection

Confirm access, site induction, timing, water, power, waste and handover contact in writing. Record unfinished work or damage separately. A cleaning visit cannot guarantee passing an inspection, receiving a bond, improving air quality or meeting building regulations.
