Check the fabric and furniture label
Identify the textile, removable covers, seams, cushions and frame materials. Read the maker's information before washing, brushing or using a cleaner; an outdoor fabric may still have limits for immersion, detergents or sunlight.
Remove loose soil gently
Brush or vacuum only as the care guide permits. Clear debris from seams and cushions without pulling fibres or damaging stitching. Do not pressure-wash a fabric or frame unless the manufacturer explicitly allows that method.
Spot-clean with a compatible product
Blot fresh spills, use a labelled product suitable for the fabric and test as directed in a discreet area. Avoid bleach, solvent, abrasive pads and mixing products unless the maker approves them.
Dry and store according to instructions
Allow covers and cushions to dry fully before storage. Use breathable storage and ventilation as the furniture maker recommends; keep items away from persistent leaks or standing water.
Use protectors only when approved
Waterproofing, UV and stain-protection products can change colour, texture or coating. Use a protector only when it is compatible with the fabric and the manufacturer permits it; no treatment guarantees weatherproofing or prevents fading.
