Start with accessible high and low areas
Check reachable light fittings, fan blades, skirting boards, door frames and corners, using a safe stable position. Do not climb or dismantle electrical fixtures. Dust or vacuum with tools suited to the surface.
Check window tracks and behind accessible appliances
Look for ordinary dust and debris in reachable tracks and accessible spaces, taking care around glass, screens and moving parts. Do not move heavy appliances or disconnect gas, water or electrical services without qualified help.
Review kitchens and bathrooms
List sinks, cupboards, appliance exteriors, shelves, taps and fixtures that need cleaning. Follow product labels and surface-maker instructions, and keep chemicals away from food and children. Persistent mould, pest activity, leaks or unknown residue need separate assessment.
Record condition and plan services
