Assess whether soiling is affecting the system
Check the inverter or monitoring information for unusual changes, while considering weather, shading, system faults and other possible causes. Compare visible dirt with the panel maker's care guidance. Do not use a general percentage estimate to predict performance loss.
Follow panel and warranty instructions
Consult the solar-panel manufacturer or installer for approved cleaning methods, water quality, tools, timing and warranty conditions. Avoid abrasive pads, detergents, high-pressure jets, chemicals or hot water unless the maker explicitly permits them.
Do not access a roof unsafely
Panels on a roof involve fall, electrical and fragile-surface hazards. Do not climb onto the roof, step on panels, touch wiring or clean near damaged equipment. Use a provider with suitable solar and height-access capability when safe ground-level access is not possible.
Compare cleaning with other maintenance
Ask an appropriately qualified solar professional to assess persistent output changes, damage, loose components or electrical concerns. Obtain a written scope for any cleaning service and compare its cost with the likely need; cleaning does not repair faults or guarantee financial savings.
