Check both sets of instructions
Confirm that the spray is labelled for the microwave's interior surfaces and food-contact context, and that the appliance maker permits it. Do not assume a general kitchen cleaner is suitable for every coating, turntable or seal.
Avoid sensitive components
Do not spray directly into vents, controls, door seals, electrical openings or the waveguide cover. Apply product to a cloth only if the label allows that method. Keep children and pets away and ventilate as directed.
Remove residue before cooking
Follow the product's contact and rinsing directions carefully. Wipe with clean water where the label requires it, then allow surfaces to dry. Never mix cleaning sprays with bleach, ammonia, vinegar or another product.
Use a simple method when permitted
For routine splashes, the appliance manual may allow wiping with a soft damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not run the microwave empty, heat cleaning chemicals or use abrasive tools. Contact a technician for damaged interiors, arcing, burning smells or electrical faults.
