Identify the exact machine and carpet
Record the machine make and model and locate its current manual. Find the carpet’s care instructions, fibre and installation information if available. Ask the carpet supplier or a qualified carpet professional if the method or material is uncertain.
Use only a method allowed by both manuals
Compare the machine instructions with the carpet maker’s permitted care method. Do not assume that a process called steam, hot-water extraction or deep cleaning means the same thing across devices. If either maker excludes the method, do not use it on that carpet.
Check products and electrical equipment
Use a cleaning product only when the exact machine manual and carpet instructions both permit it. Follow the product label and machine directions; do not mix detergents or add a household recipe. Do not use powered equipment near standing water, damaged leads or unsafe electrical conditions.
Stop if the carpet or machine changes
Pause if colour, pile, backing or texture changes, the machine leaks, trips or behaves unexpectedly, or an odour appears. Follow the equipment manual’s fault instructions and contact the maker or a qualified technician; do not continue experimenting with settings or chemicals.
Set realistic limits
A household machine does not guarantee removal of every stain or odour, sanitation, allergen removal or a fixed drying time. For delicate fibres, unknown treatments, extensive moisture or persistent marks, seek a qualified carpet assessment and compare written scope and terms.
