Match the vacuum to the task
Handheld models may suit crumbs, stairs, vehicle interiors or small upholstery areas, depending on suction, nozzle and runtime. They are not automatically effective on embedded soil, large areas, wet spills or every carpet. Follow the maker's guidance for each surface.
Compare features that matter
Consider weight, grip, battery runtime, charging time, dust capacity, filtration, noise, replacement parts and how the bin is emptied. Attachments such as a crevice tool or upholstery brush may help with specific tasks. No model or attachment guarantees removal of allergens or pet hair.

Use and maintain it safely
Do not vacuum liquids, hot material, fine hazardous dust or construction debris unless the model is expressly designed for it. Keep hands and loose items away from moving parts, empty the bin as directed and clean or replace filters according to the manual.
Know when another tool is needed
For large floor areas, deep carpet soil or specialist restoration, a different machine or professional assessment may be more suitable. Check floor-care advice before vacuuming delicate rugs, fringes, hard finishes or fragile upholstery.
