Prepare food and the appliance
Plan a short clean so perishable food is not left out longer than recommended by current food-safety guidance. Switch the appliance off or unplug it only if the manual directs, and keep water away from electrical parts, controls and lights.
Remove and clean permitted shelves
Take out shelves and drawers only as the manual allows; glass may crack if moved while very cold or exposed to sudden temperature changes. Wash removable parts with a compatible method, rinse if directed and dry fully before refitting.
Wipe interior surfaces and seals
Use a product or method permitted for the refrigerator's lining and door seals. Work with a soft cloth, avoid abrasives and excess moisture, and do not use a product that can leave a residue on food-contact surfaces unless the label allows it.
Finish and check the appliance
Dry surfaces, return food according to storage guidance and make sure vents are not blocked. Clean exterior handles with a compatible product. Persistent odour, leaks, damaged seals, ice build-up or fault codes may require appliance service rather than more cleaning.
