Start with the manufacturer’s instructions
Check the care guide before removing a filter, using a cleaning cycle or applying a product. Some machines have a dedicated drum-clean programme, while others specify a particular temperature or cleaner. Isolate power before handling removable parts, keep water away from electrical connections and never use a product that the manufacturer excludes.
Clean the drawer and door seal
Remove the detergent drawer only if the manual permits it. Rinse away residue, use a soft brush for corners and dry the drawer before replacing it. Wipe the rubber door seal with a suitable damp cloth, opening its folds gently to remove lint and trapped items.
Do not stretch, cut or scour the seal, because damage can cause leaks.
Run an appropriate drum-clean cycle
Empty the drum and select the appliance’s approved cleaning cycle or maintenance method. Do not mix vinegar, bleach, descaler or commercial washing-machine products. Different products can react, damage seals or leave residue. Run an extra rinse only when the manual or product directions support it, then leave the door open to help the interior dry.
