Ask for specific product and certification details
Request product names, current labels and the exact certification or assessment supporting a claim. Check the issuer, certificate holder, scope, validity dates and covered product or service. A certification for one product or business process should not be extended to every worker, subcontractor or cleaning task.
Confirm the method suits your carpet
Provide the fibre, backing, manufacturer care instructions, condition and prior treatment if known. Ask the provider to explain its proposed method and any compatibility assessment. Do not equate a lower-impact claim with safe use on all carpets or proof of stain, allergen or odour removal.
Compare the service proposal
Use the same rooms and task list to compare quotes. Check who supplies products, whether pre-treatment or spot work is included, what is excluded, access requirements, waste handling, price basis and aftercare. Confirm who will perform any specialist work and verify relevant credentials for that job.
Check local rules and claim boundaries
A business may have activity-specific licences or environmental obligations depending on its location and services. Use the relevant state regulator or the Australian Government’s ABLIS licence and approval search to research business requirements. ABLIS does not verify that a provider holds a credential; confirm directly with the issuer or regulator.
Keep health and environmental results evidence-based
Ask what evidence supports any claim about toxicity, biodegradability, water use, emissions, health, allergies or performance. Require evidence for the exact formulation, method, material and use. No such benefit or result is promised by this page.
