Start with the reason for concern
Unusual airflow, odour, visible debris or a suspected system fault may have causes beyond the ducts. A cleaner should not diagnose HVAC performance, mould inside a system or indoor-air illness. Ask a qualified technician to inspect the system when mechanical assessment is needed.
Confirm provider capability and scope
Ask which components are included, what access is required, how the system is protected and whether repairs or filter changes are separate. Verify relevant qualifications, insurance and method for the exact equipment and site. Do not assume a general cleaning service can dismantle or service HVAC equipment.
Keep routine cleaning separate
Accessible vents and surrounding surfaces may be part of a general cleaning scope if safe and agreed. Internal ductwork, coils, drain pans, motors and electrical components need HVAC-specific assessment and are not ordinary domestic cleaning tasks.
Prepare a clear request
Provide system type, property layout, symptoms or visible concern, recent maintenance information and safe access details. Do not apply chemicals, foggers or liquids to ducts or air-conditioning components without manufacturer and qualified-professional guidance.
