Assess the panes and access first
List internal or external glass, frames, tracks, screens and approximate pane count. Check whether windows open safely and whether balcony, ladder, roof or shared-building access is involved. Do not reach from unstable ladders or lean across an unprotected edge.
Compare time, tools and cost
DIY requires compatible tools, safe access and time to clean and dry each pane. A professional quote should specify panes, screens, tracks, height, access, timing and exclusions. Compare the same task list and check provider terms rather than relying on a headline rate.
Set realistic cleaning limits
Cleaning can remove suitable surface soil but cannot repair scratches, failed seals, cracked glass, etching or damaged frames. High-level, stained-glass, rope-access and restoration work require separate expertise and may not be available.
Prepare the service request
Share address, building type, storeys, pane groups, inside/outside need, access, weather-sensitive timing and photos. Confirm the safe method and any furniture or screen removal responsibility before booking.
