How to Plan Cleaning for Shared Rental Spaces

Identify kitchen benches, sinks, cooktop exterior, bathroom surfaces, toilets, floors, bins and common living areas. Include who handles consumables and what is personal versus shared property. Avoid assigning tasks that require unsafe access or moving heavy items.

Choose a realistic schedule for daily tidying and weekly or periodic cleaning. Rotate tasks if housemates agree, write down completion expectations and adjust the plan when occupancy or shared-space use changes. A schedule is a household arrangement, not a substitute for the lease or property-manager instructions.

Leaks, blocked drains, pests, mould remediation, broken appliances, hazardous waste and damage should be reported to the responsible landlord or property manager. Do not mix chemicals or apply products to surfaces without checking labels and material care instructions.

A domestic cleaner can be asked to quote common rooms or periodic deep-clean tasks. Provide access, room list, condition, housemate permissions and any optional carpets, ovens or windows. Confirm who pays, what is included and how the visit will be coordinated.
