Identify the mattress construction and care label
Check the mattress brand, model, removable cover, care tag, foam or fibre layers and warranty instructions. Some covers may be removable while the mattress core has different care restrictions. Ask the maker if the label is missing or does not explain the exact stain or cleaning method.
Check the carpet cleaner's intended surfaces
Read the manual for the exact carpet cleaner or extractor. Confirm whether the maker permits use on mattresses, what attachment and solution are allowed, how moisture is recovered and which parts must remain dry. Carpet use alone does not establish mattress compatibility.
Avoid soaking, chemicals and electrical components
Do not saturate the mattress, apply a carpet formula, steam, disinfectant or solvent unless both manufacturers permit that exact use. Keep liquids away from adjustable-bed motors, cables and controls. If moisture reaches electrical parts, stop and contact the bed or equipment manufacturer.
Consider moisture and drying limitations
Mattress layers can retain moisture in ways that are not visible at the surface. No universal drying time, odour-removal result or mould-prevention outcome is claimed. Stop if the material changes, remains damp or develops an unusual odour and seek mattress-maker or qualified upholstery advice.
