What to Check Before Hiring a Skip Bin

Estimate the volume and type of material before choosing a bin. Providers may restrict heavy materials, soil, chemicals, batteries, electronics, asbestos or other waste. Ask the supplier to confirm accepted items and any weight or fill limits in writing.

Confirm where the bin will sit, driveway or ground protection, delivery access, collection timing and whether a permit is needed for a public road or managed property. In apartments or strata buildings, get the responsible manager's approval and follow loading rules.

Ask whether delivery, collection, hire period, excess weight, restricted waste, extensions and permit fees are included. A low advertised rate may not include every cost. Compare providers using the same bin size, waste type, placement and duration.

A cleaning quote does not automatically include skip-bin supply, bulky waste removal or disposal. Arrange a waste provider independently unless the written cleaning proposal specifically includes a confirmed waste task. Keep walkways and work areas safe during delivery and collection.
