Ask providers to define their method
For each quote, request the process name, equipment, whether moisture or solution is used and recovered, included pre-treatment or spot work, and any aftercare. Do not assume that providers using the same label perform the same steps.
Compare against the actual carpet
Identify the carpet fibre, backing and care instructions where possible. Tell the provider about stains, wear, previous products, colour changes or moisture damage. Ask how the proposed process fits the manufacturer’s guidance and what limitations apply.
Compare service scope, not an undefined category
Use the same room list, carpet condition, access, furniture requirements and requested tasks when comparing quotes. Review price basis, exclusions, treatment limits and follow-up. A low-moisture label alone does not establish faster drying, while a steam label does not establish a particular machine or result.
Require evidence for technical or health claims
No method is claimed to remove every stain, residue, allergen or microbe, prevent health effects or extend carpet life. Any comparison about efficacy, sanitation or drying needs a defined method, product, fibre and credible test or manufacturer evidence. Ask a qualified carpet-care specialist to review claims that affect your choice.
Choose only after suitability is clear
If the carpet construction is unknown or the provider cannot explain compatibility, ask the carpet maker or seek independent professional assessment before approving treatment. Cleaning cannot repair damaged backing, replace carpet or determine a bond claim.
