Check the manual and prepare the load
Scrape large food scraps into the bin and follow the manual for any pre-rinsing guidance. Check labels on cookware, plastics, knives, glassware and decorated items before loading; some may need hand washing. Keep sharp items and fragile pieces in the positions and orientation the manufacturer specifies.
Arrange dishes so water can circulate
Use the rack diagram for plates, bowls, cups and utensils. Face soiled surfaces toward the spray path indicated in the manual, leave the specified spacing and avoid nesting items that trap water. Do not place tall dishes where they block spray arms, detergent doors or the movement of racks.
Check clearances before starting a cycle
Spin the spray arms by hand only as the manual directs and confirm they can move without hitting dishes. Check that the detergent dispenser can open and that no utensil can fall onto a heating element or into a moving part. Use detergent and rinse aid according to their labels and the appliance instructions.
Use the cycle and maintenance steps for the model
Select a cycle appropriate for the load and soil using the manufacturer’s guidance. Do not assume that running only full loads, a particular temperature or skipping pre-rinsing is suitable for every machine. Clean filters and maintain seals only as the manual describes; persistent poor results may need appliance servicing.
