Prepare the appliance and work area
Switch the oven off and let it cool completely. Read the manual for access, power isolation, removable racks and self-clean instructions. Keep children, pets and food away from the work area, and ventilate as product and appliance directions require. Do not remove panels or components unless the manufacturer identifies them as user-removable.

Deal with ordinary spills after the oven cools
Follow the manual’s approved method for crumbs and light residue. Use a soft cloth or tool and a product compatible with the interior; avoid heating elements, fans, seals and coatings unless instructions specifically allow cleaning there. Wipe and rinse only as directed, then let the appliance dry before use.
Choose a separate method for racks, glass and liners
Parts that look similar may use different materials or finishes. Check each part’s care directions before soaking, scrubbing or applying cleaner. Avoid abrasives and improvised baking-soda, vinegar, steam or lemon recipes unless the exact appliance instructions permit them; a familiar household ingredient can still damage a surface.
Pause when the manual or condition is unclear
Do not start a self-clean cycle or use a strong product based only on a general tip. Confirm the model’s cycle instructions and remove only the parts the maker specifies. If a coating is damaged, fumes persist, the oven is faulty or residue is inaccessible, contact the manufacturer or a professional cleaner for advice.
