Prepare an accurate enquiry
Share the Sydney suburb or property address, building type, where activity appears, when it was noticed, prior products and any access, pet or occupant restrictions. Do not diagnose a species or request a particular pesticide based only on an online photo.
Confirm the provider and applicable qualifications
Ask who will attend, what work is accepted, which qualifications or authorisations apply to the proposed task and how to verify them with the relevant NSW regulator. Ask whether an inspection is needed and whether any treatment is subcontracted further.
Review the treatment and occupant instructions
Before authorising work, request the target pest, areas included, product or method, current label, preparation, occupant and pet precautions, re-entry instructions, follow-up, quote and exclusions in writing. There is no universal treatment or re-entry period.
Keep property responsibilities and repairs separate
If you rent or live in strata, notify the relevant property contact where appropriate and confirm access authority. Pest treatment does not repair building gaps, leaks, damaged materials or shared-property issues; ask the appropriate trade or manager about those separately.
Set realistic expectations
No permanent prevention, eradication, chemical-free treatment, health protection or pest-free guarantee is made. Ask the provider what the documented scope covers and how a later concern should be reported.
