Whole-home preparation and order
Collect rubbish, put away loose items and open suitable ventilation. Work from high surfaces to low surfaces, dry soil before wet soil and finish each room’s floor before moving on. Use separate cloths for bathrooms, kitchens and general dusting.
Keep products labelled, never mix them and keep children and pets away from wet or treated areas.
Bedrooms and living areas
Strip beds and wash linen according to care labels. Dust ceiling fans, light fittings, shelves, picture frames and skirting boards, then wipe handles and switches with a lightly damp cloth. Vacuum mattresses only where permitted, followed by rugs, carpet edges, sofa gaps and floors.
Check upholstery labels before using water, steam or a rubber hair-removal tool; delicate fabric may need a specialist.

Kitchen checklist
Clear food and dishes, discard waste and wipe cupboard handles, doors, benches, splashbacks, cooktop, sink and appliance exteriors. Clean the refrigerator, microwave, oven and rangehood only according to their manuals. Keep liquid away from controls and use a stone-safe product on natural stone.
Vacuum crumbs from edges before mopping with the minimum moisture the floor allows.
Bathroom and laundry checklist
Ventilate, remove toiletries and clean mirrors, basin, tap, shower, bath, toilet and floor in that order, using separate toilet cloths. Rinse or wipe products as directed and dry chrome, grout and floor edges. In the laundry, wipe the outside of appliances, clean lint safely and check for leaks.
Persistent mould, sewage odour, damaged grout or moisture needs specialist assessment.

Final floor pass and inspection
Vacuum all floors before mopping, starting at room edges and working towards the exit. Use the correct product for timber, tile, vinyl, laminate, stone or carpet and do not leave moisture standing. Check bins, handles, skirting boards, high-touch surfaces and overlooked corners.
Dirt2Tidy can quote a whole-home domestic clean or a targeted deep clean when the checklist is too large for a household routine.
