Identify what was applied and how much is wet
Record the product, approximate area, when it became wet, what liquid was involved and any previous cleanup attempt. Keep people and pets away from residue and avoid grinding or spreading it into the pile.
Check both carpet and appliance instructions
Find the carpet maker’s fibre and care information and the exact vacuum or extractor manual. Do not use powered equipment on wet material unless the specific appliance is rated and the manual permits that task, and the area is safe from electrical hazards.
Avoid adding more product or moisture
Do not pour water, vinegar, detergent, solvent or another powder into the carpet by assumption. Use a product only when its exact label and carpet-maker instructions allow it; never mix cleaning products.
Ask a qualified carpet professional if it has set
Share the carpet details, product, moisture, area and previous attempts. Ask whether the backing or underlay is affected, what the proposed method and scope are, what is excluded and what result cannot be guaranteed.
Keep repairs and cleaning separate
A routine clean does not repair backing, dry concealed layers, assess a leak or certify a carpet. Get qualified restoration advice for extensive moisture or damage before arranging ordinary cleaning.
