Identify the wallpaper and test carefully
Look for product instructions, installation information and visible seams or damage. Test a permitted method discreetly and stop if colour transfers, bubbling appears or the surface changes.
Remove loose dust first
Use a soft dry cloth or suitable brush on reachable areas, moving gently to avoid lifting edges. Keep tools away from loose seams, textured finishes and damp patches.
Use limited moisture only when permitted
If the maker identifies the wallpaper as washable, use a lightly damp cloth and compatible labelled cleaner as directed. Do not soak seams, scrub abrasively or apply solvents, bleach or home mixtures by assumption.
Separate staining from wall or moisture damage
Recurring discolouration, mould-like growth, peeling, dampness or staining through the paper may indicate a wall or leak problem. Cleaning cannot repair the substrate or restore damaged paper; contact the property manager or an appropriate decorator/building professional.
