Confirm the site is ready
Ask the builder or responsible trade to confirm demolition and dusty work are complete, debris has been removed and the area is safe to enter. Keep people out of restricted work zones. If older materials may contain asbestos or another hazardous substance, do not sweep, vacuum or handle them; contact the appropriate licensed specialist.
Separate debris and construction work
List remaining packaging, dust, floors, fixtures, windows and rooms that need cleaning. Removal of rubble, hazardous waste, structural repair, plumbing, electrical, gas work and trade defects require separate arrangements. Photograph damage or unfinished work and report it to the responsible contractor.
Plan surface-appropriate cleaning
Once the site is cleared, identify dust-sensitive electronics, unfinished timber, fresh paint, sealants and other curing surfaces. Follow manufacturer and contractor instructions, collect loose dust using suitable equipment and avoid dry sweeping fine dust into the air. Do not wet clean until surfaces are ready for moisture.
Prepare a post-trade cleaning quote
Share property size, rooms, condition, dust level, access, utilities, parking and priority surfaces. Confirm inclusions, exclusions and waste handling in writing. A cleaning visit cannot certify air quality, structural safety or completion of building work.
